Dopamine Kick ("we", "us", "our") operates dopamine-kick.com and the Dopamine Kick app (together, the "Service"). This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles this directly, and we only receive information such as your subscription status, plan, and billing history.
Content you create
If you create content within the Service — such as habits, quests, check-ins, reminders, and goals — we store that content in order to provide the Service to you.
Usage data
We collect basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) to help us operate and improve the Service. This telemetry is collected with a self-hosted OpenTelemetry stack running on our own infrastructure — it is not shared with third-party analytics services.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Communicate with you about your account (e.g. billing, support, important updates)
- Improve and maintain the Service
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third Parties We Share Data With
- Stripe — payment processing
- Our hosting provider — application hosting and data storage
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information and created content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@alexbartleynees.com.
If you're in New Zealand, we handle your information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. You have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we've mishandled your data.
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Account data and created content are stored on our hosting provider's infrastructure with access limited to the operation of the Service.
